A Flurry of Responses

Posted in Uncategorized on May 28, 2008 by lpslogan

New tracks include:

Bridges and Powerlines – Song #1 (Repeater)
Canadian Invasion – Public Witness Program (In On the Kill Taker)
We Versus The Shark – Strangelight (The Argument)
Plowing Mud Forever – Faced Squared (In on the Kill Taker)

For anybody who expressed interest in the comments, but didn’t name a specific track, just leave a comment and I’ll put you on the list. Geography is no issue, by the way.

True, There is No E-mail Address

What a pain in the ass, right? Sorry about that. At the moment, we don’t really have a group e-mail, so I had thought people would just communicate via comments – something, in retrospect I should have made more explicit . Feel free to leave notes via comments and I’ll get back to you either here on via e-mail.

Take Your Medicine

Cholo has just snapped up “Target” off of Red Medicine. I’ve also heard some rumblings about people taking a shot at “Bed for Scraping.” I think Red Medicine has always been sort of the outcast Fugazi album, so I’m excited that it’s going to have some strong representation.

Cashout and Pages

Just a note to let you know that “Cashout” (from The Argument) has been claimed by the Rims’ own Christina Da Costa.

Also, if you look over to the right, you’ll see that there are two other pages to this site. The FAQ has all the info from my original e-mail for anybody who might need it. The Track List page is the most recent information on who is doing what songs.

Welcome and Initial Info

Posted in Uncategorized on May 8, 2008 by lpslogan

Hello and welcome to the Fugazi Covers Project Blog, where I’ll be posting updates about who’s doing what. We’ve already got some folks signing up, so here’s a list of who’s called dibs on specific tracks so far.

Gold Streets – Blueprint (Repeater)
Daniel Decriscio – Smallpox Champion (In On The Killtaker)
Jeffrey Opdyke – Waiting Room (13 Songs)
Mike Barthel – Arpeggiator (End Hits)
Beastmaster Romance & The Earl of Bandwidth – Repeater (Repeater)

Did I miss anybody? I know other people have expressed general interest as well, which is awesome. Let me know when you pick a song and I’ll post it.

I’d really like to make sure that everybody who’s interested in participating here gets a chance to contribute something, so I’m hoping that we can all help each other out when needed – setting people up with each other to work on a track together, helping folks out who need help getting things recorded, etc. So in that spirit, we currently have a drummer looking for some project bandmates (Jeff – maybe you want to write a comment letting folks know what sort of cover you’re looking to do) and another looking to find a way to get some drums recorded (anybody care to offer up access to some practice space and a mic?)

Finally I’ve got an invitation for you. Next Wednesday (May 14) is Bike Night at the Brooklyn Brewery. The brewery is one of Braking the Cycle’s sponsors, so a bunch of teams are setting up fundraising tables – selling food, etc. The Rims (me, Tina, Mike, Jeffrey) will be selling baked goods. But the tidbit you may be most interested to hear is that there will be $1 DRAFTS. Come hang out and have some quality beer for cheap!

The details:

Bike Night at the Brooklyn Brewery
Wednesday, May 14th, 6:30PM-9:30PM
The Brooklyn Brewery
79 N. 11th Street
Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Hope to see you there!
